A registration transfer does not move website files or mailboxes. Keep the correct records and an active DNS service to preserve operation. If DNS depends on your previous provider, plan its migration before canceling services.
Is transferring the same as pointing a domain?
No. Transferring changes the company managing registration. Pointing changes a website, email or other service’s destination through DNS. You can use Zovvi hosting while keeping your domain registered elsewhere.
What does a transfer cost?
The cost depends on the extension and domain conditions. Review the offer before completing your order. Many international extensions include an additional year, with exceptions; .br domains follow their own provider-change and renewal rules.
Do I lose the term I have already paid for?
The existing expiry date is generally preserved, and any extension-specific additional term may be added. Exceptions include certain recent renewals and maximum registration terms. Check the resulting validity in your order’s terms.
Where do I get the authorization code?
Get it from your current domain provider’s dashboard or support. It may be called EPP, AuthInfo or transfer code. It is not your account password. Keep it secure and enter it only in the secure order flow. For .br, follow Registro.br’s provider process.
How long does it take?
Timing depends on the extension, locks, confirmations and release by the previous registrar. An international transfer may take several days. Follow the order instructions and keep the domain active while the process is underway.
Can I transfer a newly registered or expired domain?
Locks may apply after registration, a transfer or changes to registrant details. Expired domains, domains in recovery or disputes need review before ordering. Check with the current registrar; completing the checklist does not verify eligibility.
