Compare certificates for your project.

DV, OV and EV are not competing levels of encryption. The differences are identity checks, coverage and product features.

Understand what SSL protects.

HTTPS protects data in transit. Identity verified by OV or EV adds information about the organization behind the address.

On a contact form

Names, phone numbers and messages travel over an encrypted connection to your server.

At sign-in

Credentials need protection in transit, alongside access controls in your application.

During checkout

The connection protects exchanged information. Store security also depends on your application and payment provider.

How to activate SSL on your website.

Ordering, validation and installation are separate steps. We’ll check your setup and guide you through them.

  1. 1

    Define the addresses

List the domain, www and subdomains that need coverage.

  2. 2

    Complete validation

Confirm domain control and the organization details required for OV or EV.

  3. 3

    Install and check

Check the certificate chain, covered names and HTTPS navigation after installation.

An annual subscription and technical validity are different.

Current certificates have shorter technical lifetimes and require reissuance during the subscription. Installation automation depends on your hosting panel and integration; external setups may require installing each reissued certificate.

What is the difference between SSL and TLS?

SSL is the familiar product name. Modern connections use TLS, the protocol that replaced it. A certificate helps the browser verify the server’s address and establish an encrypted connection for data in transit.

I already have free SSL. Do I need to buy another?

A valid free certificate may meet your HTTPS needs. A commercial certificate can make sense when you need organization validation, specific coverage, management features or included support. Let’s check your project requirements before suggesting a switch.

Does SSL prevent attacks or prove a store is trustworthy?

A certificate protects the browser-to-server connection. It does not fix application flaws, remove malware or guarantee that a store is honest. OV and EV add identity checks, while updates, access controls and other precautions remain necessary.

Does a wildcard cover every business address?

It covers subdomains of one domain at the certificate’s defined level. For example, *.business.com can cover shop.business.com and app.business.com, but not anotherdomain.com or admin.app.business.com. The base domain and www must be included in the purchased coverage.

Does EV show the company name in green?

Modern browsers do not universally show the old green address bar. EV refers to a more rigorous organization validation process. How certificate details are displayed depends on the browser; choose based on the verification your project needs.

Is one certificate valid for the whole year?

Your subscription term and the certificate’s technical validity are different. Current rules require shorter certificates, with reissuance during the subscription. Installation can be automated on integrated hosting; other setups require installing the reissued certificate. We check that process before ordering.

Are issuance and installation immediate?

Issuance depends on domain approval and, for OV/EV, organization checks. Installation depends on your server, panel and integrations. An order alone does not prove the website is protected: HTTPS, the certificate chain and covered names need to be checked after installation.

Which address are we protecting?
